Series classes – Spring/Summer 2012
Series are a number of classes done in sequence for a set period of time that allow teacher and students to delve more deeply into specific aspects of the practice. Preregistration is required, no drop-ins, and we encourage you to attend all the classes if at all possible for maximum benefit, as they often build on one another.
Intro to Yoga Series: 4 weeks – Specifically designed to introduce the new student to the basics of yoga with small classes and individualized attention. Upon completion, you will have the confidence and knowledge to step into any Fundamentals or Gentle class. The group is limited to 12 students.

Beginner Yoga Course: 3 weeks - Perfect for those brand new to yoga! Also ideal for those who have been practicing yoga who wish to refine their practice and correct misalignment. In an interactive and safe environment you will learn the fundamental principles of movement and a sequence of asanas that work quickly to to improve posture, alleviate pain and focus your mind. Each class builds upon the other. In your first class you will learn eight to ten postures and leave stronger and more energized … yet relaxed. After just six classes you will know why yoga is the oldest most effective system of wellness in existence! Upon completion of this course you will have built a strong foundation for yoga practice – fully able to participate in many of the classes taught at Yoga Soleil. The course consists of 6 classes plus one additional Whole Body practice each week. We strongly encourage you to attend a minimum of 3 classes per week to experience the powerful benefits that practicing yoga yields.

Beginner Flow Yoga Course: One week – Specifically designed to introduce the new student to the basics of flow (or vinyasa) yoga. Flow yoga is a practice where postures or asanas are connected through the breath for a transformative and balancing effect. Classes builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength. The creative sequencing found in a vinyasa class is often built around surya namaskar (sun salutations). Come learn their different variations. Upon completion, you will have the confidence and knowledge to step into any mixed-level flow class. The group is limited to 12 students. This course consists of 3 classes, 2 instruction classes and participation in one of our mixed-level classes.

Kundalini Yoga: 6 week series. a 5,000-year-old authentic system of yogic exercise and meditation that promotes health, happiness, and spiritual awareness. There are three basic components to Kundalini Yoga. There are the physical postures, literally thousands of kriyas (exercise sets) that strengthen and balance the nervous system, the glandular system and the circulatory system to promote optimum physical and emotional health. Breathing techniques (pranayam) assist a person in processing emotions and feelings, controlling moods, and developing concentration. Mantra (sound) and meditation techniques work to direct and discipline the mind. The practice of this yoga can give you the strength, courage and radiance to meet all of life’s challenges with grace. All levels are welcome.

Prenatal Yoga: 6 week series – a carefully selected series of asanas (postures) and breathing techniques to restore balance and vitality while deepening your awareness of pregnancy. Concentration and relaxation techniques assist in preparing for and providing relief during labor and birth. Prenatal yoga also helps relieve physical and emotional discomforts associated with pregnancy.
